FAQs and Housekeeping - Important Information About Services

Seeking private SLP services can be a big deal for people, families, or organizations. Here are some key things to consider before committing to Aimee's services.

Q: Are you accepting new clients?

  • Depends. Aimee only accepts a small number of new clients per year, some years no new clients are accepted. It can also depend on what a client needs and/or if their needs can be met at the time of inquiry.

Q: Do you offer a free first session?

  • No. Private SLP services are a paid service. Fees are not negotiable. You would not ask your physiotherapist, chiropractor, or massage therapist for a free treatment to see if you like them - do not do this to a speech-language pathologist either.
  • Aimee requires a free, one-time, short (15 minute), initial consultation to chat via phone or virtually with you before proceeding to ensure she can meet your needs. Aimee's first concern is that you or your loved one get the RIGHT care, not that it be her specifically.
  • She also offers a short consultation option that can be used for a less formal meet & greet.

Q: What is the cost of services?

  • Fees per service are posted in the online booking platform.
  • Aimee charges $170/hr for any work performed related to your file. Fees are calculated in 15min increments.

Q: Are your services covered by private health insurance?

  • Yes, most benefit plans do offer some coverage for SLP services.
  • Check and understand your private health benefits before inquiring about services.
  • Aimee does not direct bill insurance companies, you will be provided a receipt upon payment that you can submit to your company for reimbursement.

Q: What if I don't have very much money for SLP?

  • Aimee will be considerate of your budget, is never sneaky with costs, and will attempt to develop a plan that you can afford. This does not mean adjustment of fees, but perhaps how often you visit, for how long, or how much practice you complete at home.

Q: Do you have an assistant I can see for a lower rate?

  • No.

Q: Is there anything else that is important to know?

  • Review the cancellation, late arrivals, and no show policies upon booking.
  • Aimee has a strong value system for her services and will not take you on as a client unless she believes the professional relationship is a good fit.
  • Small community service does not mean no professional or privacy boundaries. Aimee will maintain professional boundaries and adhere to privacy standards even if you live three minutes away, you cross paths at the grocery store, or also sees your best friend's child.
  • Aimee reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for abuse, disrespect of property or reputation, failure to show up to an appointment, failure to pay for a service. There are no 'three strikes'. One transgression and you will be directed to other public or private SLP services in Alberta.
